Objetivo: este estudio se enmarca en el desarrollo del Proyecto MOTIVA Lactancia Materna, que consiste en la utilización de «Intervenciones Motivacionales Breves» en la promoción de la salud, concretamente para abordar el apoyo a la lactancia materna con el fin de alcanzar el objetivo sanitario global por parte de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), que es prolongar la lactancia materna exclusiva (LME) durante los seis primeros meses de vida.Objetivos: aumentar el número de mujeres que dan LME durante los seis primeros meses. Evaluar la eficacia del IMC para mejorar la adherencia a la LME. Método: ensayo clínico multicéntrico y aleatorizado, realizado en dos hospitales de Badajoz, en mujeres que tuvieron un parto vaginal con un recién nacido sano y que iniciaron la LME durante la primera hora de vida. Resultados: aunque no se disponía de resultados finales, no se detectaron diferencias significativas en los análisis preliminares sobre la eficacia del IMC en cuanto a la duración de la LM entre ambos brazos; sin embargo, parecía haber una tendencia a la mayor duración de la Lactancia Materna y de la Lactancia en el brazo que recibió el IMC, y esto se vio apoyado por el análisis de la supervivencia de la Lactancia Materna, donde empezaron a aparecer diferencias significativas a favor del brazo que recibió el IMC (Long Rank p= 0,045). Es alentador encontrar que el IMC parece presentar una tendencia hacia un efecto protector sobre la interrupción de la FEB, evitando casi el 70% de las interrupciones (HR 0,288 (0,075-1,104) p= 0,064).
